PM Modi Assigns First Major Task to BJP’s New Executive President Nitin Nabin; ‘VBG RAM G’ Bill to Be Litmus Test

Soon after returning from his foreign tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the newly appointed National Executive President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Nabin, marking the beginning of the latter’s active role in the party’s top leadership. The meeting, though brief, proved significant as PM Modi entrusted Nitin Nabin with his first major political assignment.

According to party sources, Prime Minister Modi has tasked Nitin Nabin with countering the opposition’s narrative surrounding the proposed “Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin (VBG RAM G)” bill. The legislation has sparked intense political confrontation between the ruling BJP and opposition parties, led by the Congress. For Nitin Nabin, this assignment is being viewed as his first major “trial by fire” since assuming charge as the party’s executive president.

A Crucial Test for the New BJP Executive President

Senior BJP leaders believe that the success or failure of the party’s communication strategy on the VBG RAM G bill will serve as a key benchmark for Nitin Nabin’s leadership abilities. He has been asked to develop a strong counter-narrative to address criticism by opposition parties, particularly the Congress, which has been aggressively mobilizing public opinion against the bill.

Party insiders say that Nitin Nabin has already begun preparations to articulate the government’s position, focusing on the bill’s intended benefits for rural employment and livelihoods. The BJP leadership is keen to ensure that the legislation is projected as a pro-poor and development-oriented initiative.

BJP Plans Nationwide Outreach Campaign

Sources indicate that the BJP is preparing to launch a nationwide awareness campaign in support of the bill. The campaign will include public meetings, press conferences, and grassroots-level outreach—from state capitals to village assemblies—to explain the provisions and expected impact of the legislation. As the executive president, Nitin Nabin will play a central role in coordinating and steering this extensive political exercise.

Opposition Gears Up for Protest

Meanwhile, the opposition has stepped up its resistance. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has issued a stern warning to the government, stating that if the bill is not withdrawn, mass protests will be launched across the country. Drawing parallels with the now-repealed three farm laws, Kharge asserted that the government would eventually be forced to roll back the bill.

In this context, the Congress has convened a crucial meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on December 27 to finalize its nationwide protest strategy, including rallies and demonstrations.

Meeting with PM and Cultural Gesture

Following his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Nitin Nabin shared his experience on social media platform X. He stated that he received valuable guidance from the Prime Minister for his future responsibilities. On the occasion, Nitin Nabin presented PM Modi with cultural gifts symbolizing Bihar’s rich heritage—a Sikki art painting and a shawl adorned with Madhubani artwork on Bhagalpuri silk.

As political temperatures rise over the VBG RAM G bill, all eyes are now on Nitin Nabin. How effectively he navigates this challenge may well define his early tenure as BJP’s National Executive President.
