
Jaipur, Rajasthan: Great news for travelers heading to western Rajasthan from Delhi! The Jaisalmer-Phalodi-Delhi Intercity Express, which was suspended during the COVID period, is being replaced by a new Jaisalmer-Shakur Basti Express. The Ministry of Railways has approved the train, and it is expected to start operations by the end of this month.
Route and Schedule
The train will depart from Jaisalmer at 5:00 PM, making stops at Jodhpur, Merta Road, Degana, Phulera, and Jaipur, and will reach Delhi Shakur Basti station by 9:30 AM the following morning. The return journey, train number 12249, will leave Delhi at 5:10 PM, reaching Jaisalmer by 9:30 AM the next day. The service will run daily. Key stops along the route include Ramdevra, Phalodi, Marwar Lohawat, Osiyan, Makrana, Kuchaman City, Nawa City, Dausa, Alwar, Rewari, Gurgaon, and Delhi Cantt.

The introduction of this regular direct train is expected to greatly benefit both domestic and international tourists visiting western Rajasthan, particularly the Marwar region, which includes prominent tourist cities like Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. Travel agents and hotel businesses have welcomed the announcement, anticipating a surge in visitor numbers during the peak winter season.
This new train not only enhances connectivity between Delhi and western Rajasthan but also provides a much-needed boost to tourism and local trade in the region.
