Pipa Bridge Over Kosi River Inaugurated, Travel Between Khagaria and Madhepura Cuts from 95 km to 25 km

Khagaria (Bihar):
A new milestone in regional connectivity was achieved on Wednesday as the Pipa Bridge over the Kosi River near Birbas village in Gogri block, Khagaria district, was opened to the public. The bridge, constructed at an estimated cost of ₹30 crore, is set to significantly reduce travel time and distance for residents of Khagaria and Madhepura, as well as for people in nearly 25 surrounding villages.

Major Reduction in Travel Distance

Before the bridge, villagers had to traverse approximately 95 kilometers to reach Madhepura. With the bridge now operational, the journey has been reduced to just 25 kilometers, saving both time and transportation costs. The bridge connects Khagaria to Madhepura via Kapasiya Ghat, offering a safe and direct route that eliminates the need for ferry crossings.

Local Leaders Hail the Development

Babulal Shaurya, MLA from Parbatta constituency representing LJP (Ram Vilas), expressed his happiness at the bridge inauguration. He said the new bridge would make daily commutes to Madhepura easier and safer for residents, especially in the flood-prone region.

Local residents echoed the sentiment. Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of the area, called the bridge “a boon” for the communities of Gogri block and Madhepura. Villager Milan Kumar added that the bridge would not only save distance but also improve access to markets, education, and health facilities in Madhepura.

Boost for the Region

The Pipa Bridge is expected to enhance mobility, boost local trade, and improve the quality of life for thousands of residents who previously faced long detours and unreliable river crossings. Officials said the bridge is part of ongoing infrastructure development initiatives aimed at improving connectivity in north Bihar.
