Patna: In a major development in the suspicious death case of a 16-year-old Class 12 student in Patna’s Phulwari Sharif area, the police will conduct a scene recreation exercise on Monday at Sumitra Heights Apartment, located in Harinagar.
The student reportedly died after falling from the seventh floor of the apartment building under mysterious circumstances. In an effort to scientifically determine whether the girl was pushed or jumped on her own, police officials will recreate the incident by dropping a dummy matching her body weight from the rooftop.
Police Using Scientific Methods to Verify the Incident
According to police sources, the dummy test will help investigators assess the fall pattern and verify whether the incident was an accident, suicide, or a possible case of foul play.
No Confirmation of Sexual Assault in Postmortem Report
SP West, Bhanu Pratap Singh, stated that the postmortem report has not confirmed any evidence of rape or sexual assault. He also clarified that the investigation so far has not revealed the involvement of any suspect currently taken into custody.
CCTV Footage Captured Key Moments
Police informed that CCTV cameras installed in the apartment complex captured the girl walking from the staircase to the terrace and later falling from the rooftop. After the incident, based on initial suspicion, the police detained four individuals, including a carpenter and a security guard working in the apartment. However, interrogation did not yield any solid evidence against them.
Postmortem Conducted by AIIMS Medical Board
Following the family’s allegations and concerns of possible foul play, the postmortem examination was conducted by a medical board at AIIMS. The report, however, ruled out any signs of sexual abuse.
Investigation Ongoing
The police are now focusing on multiple angles and are hopeful that the scene recreation will provide crucial clarity on the circumstances under which the student fell from the seventh floor.
