Darbhanga: Tension has gripped Harinagar village under the Kusheshwar Sthan police station area in Bihar’s Darbhanga district after a violent clash between two groups escalated into a major law-and-order situation.
In a surprising development, an FIR has been lodged naming 70 individuals and accusing around 100 to 150 unidentified persons, raising serious questions over whether the case stems from a personal dispute or has turned into a larger village-wide hostility.
FIR Filed Under SC/ST Act and Multiple Sections
According to police sources, the case originated in Harinagar village where one Asharfi Paswan filed a complaint alleging assault related to a monetary dispute. In his complaint, he named 70 people belonging to a particular community and also included a large number of unknown persons.
The case has been registered under various sections, including the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, along with other relevant provisions.
Villagers Allege Entire Community Targeted
The villagers have alleged that instead of identifying the actual culprits, the complaint has targeted an entire community. They claim that even individuals who were not present in the village at the time of the incident have been made accused in the FIR.
Residents have demanded that the police conduct a fair investigation and identify only those who are genuinely responsible.
Dispute Began Over Money Transaction
Reports suggest that the conflict began over a money transaction. The situation reportedly worsened on the night of January 31, when an argument turned into a violent confrontation.
The clash allegedly involved the use of sticks, rods, and other weapons. More than 10 people, including women and a minor girl, sustained injuries in the incident.
12 People Detained for Questioning
Police officials confirmed that 12 people have been taken into custody for questioning so far. Authorities are investigating whether the clash was a result of a personal financial dispute or part of a larger rivalry within the village.
Meanwhile, police presence has been increased in the area to prevent further escalation, as tension continues to prevail in the village.
