Patna: A shocking case of a Class 12 student’s suspicious death in Patna’s Phulwari Sharif area has taken a dramatic turn after CCTV footage revealed that two youths were allegedly following the girl moments before the incident.
The incident took place at Sumitra Heights Apartment in Harinagar, where the student had reportedly gone for coaching. Initially, the matter was described as an accident, with claims that the girl may have fallen after feeling dizzy. However, the CCTV footage has raised serious questions, indicating that the incident may not have been accidental.
CCTV Footage Changes the Entire Story
According to the victim’s family, the girl was being followed right from the moment she got down from an auto-rickshaw. CCTV footage installed in the apartment premises reportedly shows two young men trailing her and following her up the staircase.
When the family managed to access the footage after repeated demands, they immediately identified one of the suspects. Acting swiftly, the family caught the main suspect themselves and handed him over to the police.
One Suspect Worked in the Same Flat
A key detail that has intensified suspicion is that one of the detained youths was reportedly working as a carpenter in the same apartment flat—the flat from whose balcony the girl allegedly fell.
This has led investigators to explore whether the student was lured or forced into the flat before the fall.
Injuries Found During Funeral Raised Doubts
The victim’s brother stated that coaching staff initially claimed the girl had fallen after losing balance. However, during preparations for the last rites, the family noticed serious injury marks on her back, waist, and head.
These injuries strengthened the family’s belief that the girl may have faced physical assault or force before she fell.
The family suspects that the girl might have been pushed while trying to escape an alleged attempt of sexual assault.
Police Detain Four for Questioning
Police have taken the CCTV footage into custody as evidence. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has also visited the spot and collected samples for investigation.
So far, police have detained four people, including:
- The apartment security guard
- The carpenter working in the flat
- The suspected stalker
- Another youth seen in CCTV footage
Authorities are now investigating how and why the student reached the flat under renovation and who was present there at the time of the incident.
Investigation Underway
Police officials stated that the case is being investigated from all angles. The crucial focus remains on establishing whether the student’s death was an accident or the result of a planned criminal act.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage and renewed concerns about women’s safety, even in supposedly secure residential complexes.
