Patna Property Owners Get Major Relief: 100% Waiver on Interest & Penalty Until March 2026

Patna: In a significant move to ease the financial burden on property owners, Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a full waiver of interest and penalties on outstanding property taxes. Under the new scheme, taxpayers will only need to pay the principal amount of their dues, effective immediately until March 31, 2026.

One-Time Settlement for Pending Dues
The initiative comes under the newly approved Bihar Municipal Property Tax Incentive Scheme – 2025. Property owners can settle pending property taxes for the financial year 2025-26 as well as previous years by paying only the principal amount in a one-time payment. The scheme has been sanctioned following a notification from the Bihar Urban Development & Housing Department and is designed as a One-Time Settlement (OTS) mechanism to resolve long-pending tax disputes.

Coverage Across All Property Types
The waiver applies to all properties within the PMC limits, including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and state- or central government-owned properties. Taxpayers with cases pending in courts or tribunals are also eligible, provided they submit written proof of withdrawing their legal cases. Properties that have not yet completed self-assessment for holding numbers can also avail of the scheme, with valuations determined according to PMC norms.

Limited-Time Opportunity with Verification
The municipal authorities have urged all property owners to take advantage of this limited-time offer to clear their dues. PMC has also issued a strict warning that all payments and related information will be verified. Any attempt to provide false information or conceal facts will result in cancellation of the waiver, and legal action will follow as per the law.
