Patna, Nalanda, Saharsa Schools Closed Amid Severe Cold Wave

The extreme cold wave sweeping across Bihar has forced authorities in several districts to shut down schools to protect children’s health. The District Magistrates of Patna, Nalanda, Saharsa, and Bhojpur have issued orders for temporary school closures in light of the harsh winter conditions.

Patna: Classes up to 8th Grade Suspended until December 30
In Patna, following the previous order that schools would remain closed for students up to 8th grade until December 26, the District Magistrate Tyagarajan S.M. has now extended the closure. According to the new directive, “Due to the prevailing extreme cold and low temperatures, continuing educational activities could adversely affect the health and safety of children.”
Under this order, all private and government schools, including pre-schools and Anganwadi centers, will remain closed for classes up to 8th grade until December 30, 2025. Classes for 9th grade and above are permitted only from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Saharsa: Schools Up to 10th Grade Closed Until December 30
Saharsa District Magistrate Deepesh Kumar has also ordered closure of all private and government schools up to 10th grade until December 30, 2025, in view of the severe cold wave affecting the region.

Nalanda: Schools Closed Up to 10th Grade Until December 31
In Nalanda, District Magistrate Kundan Kumar has instructed that all schools for students up to 10th grade remain closed until December 31, 2025, due to the extreme cold. The order applies to both private and government educational institutions.

Bhojpur: Complete Closure for Classes 1–8 Until December 31
Bhojpur district authorities have also announced closure of all government and private schools, including Anganwadi centers, for students from class 1 to 8 from December 27 to December 31, 2025, in response to the harsh winter conditions.

The district administrations have urged parents to ensure the safety of children and avoid unnecessary exposure to the severe cold while schools remain closed.
