Patna (Bihar):
The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a strict crackdown on coaching centers and commercial institutions that deface public property with unauthorized advertisements and posters. The move aims to protect the city’s walls, public buildings, and cultural artworks from further damage.
Action Plan and Directives
Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena has instructed all zonal officers to launch campaigns against illegal encroachments and impose hefty fines on institutions responsible for putting up posters on public walls and infrastructure. Key areas, including Boring Road and Patna Junction, have been identified as “high-violation zones,” where most illegal advertisements occur.
Protecting Cultural Heritage
Patna’s streets feature Madhubani paintings and other cultural artworks meant to beautify the city. However, unauthorized posters and advertisements have damaged these installations, impacting the aesthetic appeal of public spaces. The PMC has warned that violators will be prosecuted under the Bihar Municipal Act and fined accordingly.
Zero Tolerance Policy
Officials emphasized that public infrastructure misuse will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The civic administration aims to maintain cleanliness, preserve cultural heritage, and ensure the city’s walls and public spaces remain free from visual clutter.
