Patna, Bihar: Mysterious screams near the MLC residence in Patna’s R-Block have left legislators puzzled and alarmed. During a session of the Bihar Legislative Council, Congress MLC Sameer Kumar Singh raised concerns about eerie sounds heard in the mornings and late at night around the MLC housing complex. While some speculated about paranormal activity, Singh attributed the noises to frequent and severe road accidents in the area.
‘Death Zone’ Around MLC Residence
Speaking in the council, MLC Sameer Kumar Singh said the alarming cries are heard every two to four days near the residence. Investigations often reveal that these sounds coincide with fatal or serious road accidents. Singh pointed to negligence and flawed DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) by the Road Construction Department, claiming that bypassing the initial DPRs for a third one has contributed to recurring accidents near the nearby bridge.
Government Response: Shortcuts to Blame
Responding to the concerns, Minister Dilip Jaiswal acknowledged the problem but highlighted that pedestrians often take shortcuts instead of using foot overbridges (FOBs) installed for safety. Jaiswal noted that flyovers and FOB networks have been established in areas such as Bailey Road and Shivpuri to facilitate smooth traffic, but improper use has led to accidents.
Safety Measures Underway
The minister assured the council that roads around the MLC residence and assembly complex are being upgraded. Speed breakers and CCTV cameras have been installed to curb accidents. He also invited council members to suggest further safety improvements, emphasizing that the government is open to implementing measures to protect lives and property.
This issue highlights the urgent need for better traffic planning, strict enforcement of pedestrian safety, and proactive monitoring of accident-prone zones in Patna.
