Patna Metro Brings Good News: Malahi Pakdi Route to Commence Soon

Patna, Bihar: Patna Metro is set to extend its services to Malahi Pakdi, offering a much-needed relief for commuters battling the city’s long traffic jams. Work on other metro routes is also progressing rapidly, ensuring faster completion of the overall project.

Priority Corridor Nearing Completion
The priority corridor of the Patna Metro Rail project has entered its final stages. Three stations—Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and Patliputra ISBT—are already fully operational, while civil works on the remaining sections are moving swiftly.

During a high-level review meeting, Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD) and Managing Director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL), stated, “The project is progressing efficiently, and metro services will soon be extended to Malahi Pakdi.” He emphasized that the remaining work is being executed in mission mode with strict timelines.

Accelerated Work on Corridor II
Senior officials from PMRCL and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) presented detailed updates on physical and financial progress, civil works, system integration, and major achievements. Singh instructed that construction of the remaining two stations—Malahi Pakdi and Khemnichak—along the 6.5 km elevated stretch of Corridor II (Patliputra ISBT to Malahi Pakdi) be completed urgently, as this is crucial for initiating operations on the full priority corridor, also known as the Blue Line.

He stressed that speed should not compromise quality or safety and directed round-the-clock monitoring of key activities, including track laying, third rail installation, signaling, and other essential services. Official sources confirmed that the first operational section up to Malahi Pakdi is on track to open soon. Once operational, the priority corridor will connect five major stations, significantly easing city traffic.

Comprehensive Metro Network for Patna
Upon full completion, the Patna Metro Rail project will cover approximately 31 km with 24 stations, transforming urban mobility in Bihar’s capital.

  • Corridor I will span 17.9 km, including 7.3 km elevated (Danapur, Saguna Mod, RPS Mod, Patliputra, Meethapur, Ramkrishna Nagar, Jaganpura, Khemnichak) and 10.5 km underground lines passing through Ruknapura, Raja Bazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, and Patna Junction.
  • Corridor II will feature a 7.9 km underground stretch from Patna Junction (interchange station) to Rajendra Nagar, covering Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, and Moinul Haq Stadium. The total length of this corridor is approximately 14.5 km.

The first operational route, inaugurated on October 7, 2025, has already provided relief to 7,000 daily commuters. Authorities are prioritizing timely completion of both corridors while ensuring safety and quality standards.
