Patna, Feb 13, 2026: A shocking twist has emerged in the death of a 12th-grade student in Phulwarisharif, Patna, after her family noticed suspicious injuries on her body before the funeral. The incident has raised fears that the teenager’s death may not have been accidental.
Suspicious Injuries Halt Funeral
The 16-year-old girl, a resident of Chakmusa, had been attending coaching classes at Sumitra Heights Apartment. She reportedly fell from the fourth floor of the building on February 12. Initially, the coaching staff claimed it was a simple accident due to dizziness. The family accepted this account and brought her body home.
However, during funeral preparations, her relatives discovered deep marks and bruises on her back, waist, and head, suggesting possible physical assault or an attempt at foul play prior to the fall. Shocked, the family halted the cremation and returned to the apartment to investigate further.
Family Protests and CCTV Evidence
Upon returning to the apartment, the family faced resistance in accessing CCTV footage for over two hours. After persistent pressure, the video was shown, revealing young men seemingly following the girl, which may have prompted her to flee towards the balcony, ultimately leading to her fatal fall.
Ongoing Investigation
The girl’s family alleges that she was attacked and, when the attempt failed, pushed from the balcony. Recognizing the gravity of the case, police have taken the body back for post-mortem at AIIMS and are collecting evidence from the apartment. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and police teams are investigating to determine whether the death was accidental or a result of premeditated assault.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the local community, with residents demanding a thorough probe and strict action against any culpable individuals.
