Patna, Bihar: In a shocking incident in the Bihar capital, two brothers were shot dead by assailants over a decades-old land dispute. The tragedy has left their father, Raj Kishor Prasad, grief-stricken as he recalls his last conversation with his sons, expressing the heartbreaking regret that if only they had heeded his advice, this day could have been avoided.
Father Alleges Local Landowners Behind Killings
The victims, 32-year-old Manish Kumar and 24-year-old Manjit Kumar, were residents of Shahpur in the Gopalpur police station area. Their father has accused local residents Krishna Rai and Prem Rai, along with their sons, of orchestrating the attack due to a long-standing dispute over land. According to him, the accused had previously threatened his family multiple times, but prior complaints to senior police officials did not result in preventive action.
“Both my sons were shot by our enemies. Krishna Rai, Prem Rai, and their sons conspired together to kill them. One of my sons was married but had no children; the other was younger,” said a grief-stricken Raj Kishor Prasad.
How the Murder Occurred
The brothers had gone to attend a reception party hosted by Dault Rai’s son in the locality. According to police, assailants lying in wait opened fire indiscriminately, killing both brothers on the spot. The attackers fled immediately after the shooting. The injured brothers were rushed to NMCH hospital, where doctors declared them dead upon arrival.
Police Investigation
Parichay Kumar, City SP of East Patna, confirmed that the killings stemmed from a land dispute. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to the scene to collect evidence. Three cartridges were recovered from the site. Police are examining CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators and have assured that arrests will be made soon.
“Both brothers were shot over a land-related dispute. The investigation is ongoing, and all leads are being pursued to bring the criminals to justice,” said SP Parichay Kumar.
The incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the deadly consequences of long-standing property disputes in the area.
