Patna: Passengers at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna now have a smoother and more comfortable journey to their flights, as all five passenger boarding bridges (aerobridges) at the new integrated terminal have become fully operational. With this development, travelers no longer need to worry about sun or rain while boarding or deboarding planes.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) cleared the operation of the fourth and fifth aerobridges, which became functional from January 31, 2026.
Inauguration with Air India and IndiGo Flights
The fourth aerobridge (Aerobridge-4) was inaugurated with Air India flight AI-1746 from Delhi, carrying 178 passengers. The flight smoothly docked at parking bay 10 and connected directly to boarding gate 12. The return flight, AI-1819 to Delhi, carried 177 passengers, marking a seamless launch of the facility.
Similarly, the fifth aerobridge was commissioned with IndiGo flight 6E-6549 from Delhi to Patna, arriving at parking bay 6 and connecting to boarding gate 12A. The return flight, 6E-6550, departed with 178 passengers, confirming the successful operation of the fifth bridge.
Airport Director Highlights Passenger Benefits
Airport Director Chandra Pratap Dwivedi said, “With all five aerobridges fully operational, the terminal now provides direct, weather-protected access to aircraft. This upgrade will significantly ease passenger movement, reduce boarding and deboarding time, improve crowd management inside the terminal, and enhance the overall travel experience—especially for families, senior citizens, and passengers with limited mobility.”
The new aerobridges are expected to support higher flight volumes and improve efficiency at Patna Airport, making it more passenger-friendly and better equipped for future growth.
