Parents of Al-Falah University Students to Protest Over Academic Crisis

Faridabad, Haryana: Parents of MBBS and engineering students at Al-Falah University are uniting to protest the ongoing academic disruptions caused by faculty shortages and the fallout from the university’s recent terror-related controversy. Nearly 700 parents are expected to gather at the university gates on 22 November to demand that their children be allowed to continue their education at other accredited institutions.

Students Facing Academic Uncertainty

The investigation into terrorist links involving some university faculty has left students in a severe educational crisis. Classes are being disrupted as nearly half of the faculty is absent, and students are reportedly being subjected to mobile phone checks, adding to their stress. Parents fear that their children’s final exams and overall academic performance could be negatively impacted due to the ongoing situation.

Chandigarh resident Khushpal Singh, whose son is completing his MBBS at the university, said, “The university’s association with terrorist activities has caused immense distress for our children. The faculty shortage and security measures are affecting normal classes. We want the government to ensure that our children can continue their education at a safe and recognized institution.”

University Background

Al-Falah University, established under the Al-Falah Charitable Trust in 1997, was upgraded from a college to a full university in 2014. It offers engineering and medical courses and attracts students from across India, with 70% of MBBS seats reserved for the Muslim community and the remaining 30% for other communities. The university is particularly popular among students from Jammu & Kashmir. Over the years, hundreds of students have graduated from the institution.

As the protest draws near, authorities and university management are under pressure to address the parents’ demands and reassure students about the future of their education.
