Patna: Independent MP from Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, was shifted to Beur Jail in Patna on Sunday night after being discharged from Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). The transfer was carried out under tight security arrangements by Patna Police, following medical clearance from the hospital authorities.
The development has sparked widespread discussion, with many questioning how the MP spent his first night inside the high-security Beur Jail.
Shifted After Health Condition Improved
According to sources, Pappu Yadav was moved to jail only after his health showed improvement. PMCH officials confirmed that after a thorough medical examination, he was declared stable and formally handed over to the police.
Police officials escorted him to Beur Jail late Sunday night amid heightened security, considering the sensitive nature of the case and his political influence.
Court Sent Him to Judicial Custody
Pappu Yadav was produced before the Patna Civil Court on Saturday, a day after his arrest. The court subsequently sent him to two days of judicial custody, following which he was first taken for medical treatment before being lodged in jail.
Bail Plea to Be Heard in High Court
Sources further stated that his bail petition is scheduled to be heard in the High Court on Monday. Supporters and political observers are closely monitoring the proceedings, as the case has once again brought Pappu Yadav into the national spotlight.
Arrest Linked to 31-Year-Old Case
Police officials stated that the arrest was carried out in connection with a 31-year-old case, in which Pappu Yadav allegedly failed to appear repeatedly before the court. Due to his continued absence, the court had issued an attachment warrant, prompting the police to take action.
He was arrested late Friday night from his residence in Mandiri, Patna, amid high drama. During the arrest, tensions were reported between police personnel and his supporters, leading to heated arguments at the spot.
FIR Filed Against MP and Others
Following the incident, an FIR was registered at Buddha Colony police station against Pappu Yadav and around 20 unidentified persons for allegedly obstructing police action and creating disturbance in government work.
Case Dates Back to 1995 Fraud Dispute
The matter reportedly dates back to 1995, when a case was registered at Gardani Bagh police station. The complaint relates to an alleged fraud and property dispute.
As per the complainant Vinod Bihari Lal, he accused the MP of obtaining his property on rent through deception and later using it as an office, a detail he claimed was concealed during the agreement process.
Political Tension Builds
With the MP now lodged in Beur Jail and his bail hearing approaching, political tension is rising in Bihar. Authorities remain alert as supporters continue to gather and demand his release, while police maintain that legal procedures are being followed strictly.
