Pappu Yadav Sent to Two Days’ Judicial Custody, Brought to Patna Court by Ambulance

Patna, Feb 7, 2026: Independent MP from Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, was produced in Patna Civil Court on Friday and sent to two days’ judicial custody. Due to his deteriorating health, he will remain under medical observation at PMCH Hospital. Meanwhile, his legal team has filed a bail petition in the Patna High Court, which is scheduled for hearing on Monday.

Pappu Yadav was arrested late Thursday night from his official residence in Patna in connection with a 31-year-old case. On Friday morning, police conducted a medical examination at PMCH, following which he was transported to the Civil Court by ambulance. City SP Bhanu Pratap Singh clarified, “This is a routine procedure. We are required to produce the accused in court within 24 hours. His medical check-up has been completed.”

The SP also noted that during the arrest, Yadav’s supporters tried to obstruct the police, displaying strong emotions. “Action will be taken against all individuals seen in the video footage attempting to interfere with police duties,” he added.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, condemned the arrest, calling it a political conspiracy. They alleged that the government targeted Pappu Yadav in retaliation for raising issues related to the NEET student case, using a decades-old case as a pretext.
