Pappu Yadav Arrested After Ant Remark Against Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary

Patna: MP Pappu Yadav, who has been vocally commenting on the Girls’ Hostel scandal for the past month, was arrested late Friday night. The arrest came shortly after he publicly challenged Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary at the Patna Airport.

Pappu Yadav had arrived at the airport in a stylish safari suit and addressed the media, taking a direct swipe at Samrat Chaudhary. His statement quickly made headlines across national television and online media. Later, upon returning to his residence, a crowd of his supporters had gathered outside. While he was freshening up and having tea, a team of policemen, led by the strict City SP Bhanu Pratap Singh, arrived at his home with an arrest warrant.

Midnight Arrest

Yadav reportedly appeared bewildered as the police informed him that the warrant pertained to a case dating back to 1995, in which his bail had been canceled. Despite insisting that he would appear in court on Saturday, he eventually complied after nearly two and a half hours of negotiation. He was first taken to IGIMS for a medical check-up and later brought to PMCH early Saturday morning. The cold night saw Yadav lying on a stretcher in the hospital.

The Ant Remark

At the airport, Pappu Yadav had taunted Samrat Chaudhary saying, “Samrat Babu… you arrested the son of a former MLA during the flood period, but didn’t act on the Rupaesh murder? If you have the courage, deliver justice for that murder. And one more thing… there’s Dhananjay Singh’s son, who fired at a senior SP—arrest him. But you, Samrat Babu, dug a mountain and out came a mouse… not even able to catch an ant. What do you say to that?”

Police Following Close Behind

Interestingly, within hours of the airport statement, a police team had already reached Yadav’s residence. Whether coincidence or immediate action, the arrest underscored the tense standoff between the outspoken MP and the state administration.
