Patna: The Bihar Legislative Assembly is set to enter a new era of digitization and transparency as its 18th session begins today in a fully paperless format. Every MLA’s seat is now equipped with a tablet, and the entire functioning of the House will run through the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) platform.
This marks a historic transformation in the state’s legislative operations—introducing new microphones, larger television display panels, high-speed Wi-Fi, and modern digital headsets to enhance efficiency and accuracy inside the House.
NeVA Platform to Power Entire House Proceedings
Under the e-Vidhan project, all processes—from raising questions to receiving government responses—will now take place digitally. MLA tablets and mobile devices will run the NeVA App, available on both Android and iOS. Similar digitization has already begun in the Legislative Council.
Key upgrades under the digital overhaul include:
- Advanced sensor-equipped microphones for clearer audio
- Six large TV screens to instantly display vote counts and results during proceedings
- High-tech headsets with digital display and soft-touch volume controls at every seat
- High-speed Wi-Fi connectivity across the Assembly complex
Officials and Assembly staff members have also been provided tablets to ensure smooth coordination and faster workflow.
What’s on the Agenda This Week?
- Dec 1: Oath-taking of MLAs
- Dec 2: Election of the Speaker
- Dec 3: Governor’s Address
- Dec 4: Government’s Floor Test
- Dec 5: Presentation of the Appropriation Bill
The session is expected to draw significant attention as the newly formed Assembly begins functioning with an entirely digital interface.
A Stylish New Look for the Assembly
Beyond technology, the Assembly has undergone a visual facelift:
- All MLA seat cushions have been replaced
- Imported marble has been installed, giving the chamber a more modern look
- The well area carpet is fully upgraded
- The Assembly lawns have been redesigned with premium Mexican grass brought from Kolkata, offering a velvet-like feel
- Edges of the lawn are decorated with marigold and chrysanthemum plants, adding fresh appeal to the complex
With these major upgrades, the Bihar Vidhan Sabha is now among India’s most modern legislative chambers—combining digital governance with an enhanced aesthetic environment.
