A sensational and disturbing case from Haryana’s Panipat has revealed the dark psychological depths of 32-year-old Poonam, a woman accused of murdering four young children within a span of two years and eleven months. Shockingly, her victims include her own three-year-old son, Shubham, and three nieces. Police claim she targeted “beautiful children” out of jealousy, often comparing them to her son.
Link to a Tantrik in Kairana, Uttar Pradesh
Police investigations have uncovered that Poonam’s trail extends to Shamli district’s Kairana in Uttar Pradesh.
Poonam frequently claimed she was “possessed” and insisted that a supernatural shadow followed her. Influenced by her repeated claims, her in-laws took her to a tantrik (occult practitioner) residing in Kairana.
The Uttar Pradesh police called the tantrik in for questioning. He stated that Poonam and her in-laws had visited only once. According to him, people genuinely convinced they are under a supernatural influence usually come three to four times, but Poonam never returned after the first visit — raising suspicion that the “possession” narrative was fabricated.
Educated Yet Dangerous: A Planned Pattern of Psychopathic Behaviour
Despite being well-educated with an MA in Political Science, Poonam has displayed clear psychopathic tendencies, police say.
Investigators believe she constructed an elaborate story involving tantra-mantra and the spirit of a deceased youth to shield herself from suspicion.
Panipat DSP Naveen Sindhu clarified that the murders have no connection to occult practices.
He stated:
“This is a clear case of psycho killing. Poonam crafted the story of possession and black magic to save herself. Every time a murder occurred, suspicion fell on her, but she managed to escape scrutiny. She knew she would eventually be caught and had already planned to blame a supernatural shadow.”
Police Conclude: No Black Magic, Just Pure Psychopathy
Investigators firmly assert that Poonam’s actions stem from deep-seated psychological issues rather than occult influence. Her crimes were cold, calculated, and motivated by envy towards children she perceived as more attractive than her own.
Poonam is currently in police custody, and further forensic and psychological evaluation is underway.
