Palamu, Jharkhand: In a shocking case from Lesliganj police station area of Palamu district, superstition and blind belief drove a son to orchestrate the brutal murder of his own father, 65-year-old Pachu Mochi. Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the case. The investigation has revealed disturbing details that raise serious questions about family values and human morality.
Minor Incident Triggers Deadly Suspicion
According to police sources, the conflict traces back to a few months ago when some money went missing from Pachu Mochi’s home. In anger, he broke a family deity’s picture and threw it into the courtyard. Soon after, unfortunate deaths occurred in the house of his nephew, Dhananjay Ravidas — the boy’s mother and brother passed away, while other family members frequently fell ill.
Blinded by superstition, Pachu’s son Bablu Mochi and nephew Dhananjay suspected that Pachu Mochi practiced black magic and was responsible for the misfortunes in the family. Driven by fear and mistrust, they hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him.
Murder Arranged for Rs 40,000
The murder plot was executed with chilling precision. Bablu sent Rs 7,000 to Dhananjay, who added more to advance a total of Rs 10,100 to his brother-in-law Satyendra Kumar. The deal for the murder was finalized at Rs 40,000. Satyendra then recruited his brother Muneshwar Kumar and two accomplices. On December 22, they lured Pachu Mochi to Dabra forest, where he was brutally killed by slitting his throat.
Investigation and Arrests
The grisly discovery of a body in Dabra forest on December 24 sent shockwaves through the area. Identification confirmed the victim as Pachu Mochi. The police found it suspicious that no missing complaint had been filed since December 22, and family members initially resisted filing an FIR. A special team led by the SDPO conducted rigorous interrogation, uncovering contradictions in statements. Eventually, the accused confessed to the crime, and the knife used in the murder was recovered from the scene, stained with blood.
This horrific case highlights the deadly consequences of superstition and blind faith, where fear and suspicion within a family led to a premeditated and gruesome murder.
