Rampur: In an unusual case, a Pakistani woman reportedly secured a government teaching job in Rampur by concealing her true identity. She had been teaching at a primary school in Saidpur. Upon discovery of the facts, she was dismissed. Now, 34 years later, an FIR has been registered in the Ajimnagar police station regarding the matter.
The case involves Farzana, also known as Mahira Akhtar, daughter of Akhtar Ali from the Atishbaz neighborhood of Rampur Kotwali. Mahira married Pakistani citizen Sibgat Ali on June 17, 1979, after which she moved to Pakistan and acquired Pakistani citizenship. She gave birth to two daughters, Alima and Furqana, while in Pakistan.
Divorce and Return to India
Around three years after the marriage, Mahira was divorced by her husband and returned to her parental home in India with her daughters. However, she retained her Pakistani citizenship. When her visa expired, she continued residing in India, leading the local intelligence unit (LIU) to file a case against her under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act at the City Kotwali in 1983. On June 25, 1985, the CJM Court ordered her presence until the case was resolved.
Securing a Government Teaching Job
While living in India, Mahira reportedly obtained a primary school teaching position on January 22, 1992, at the Kumharia Primary School in the Saidnagar block, concealing her Pakistani citizenship. During this period, the LIU issued a notice to extend her visa, which revealed her employment in the Basic Education Department.
FIR Registered After Decades
Following a detailed investigation, the LIU submitted its report to the administration. Mahira was dismissed from her teaching position at the Saidnagar primary school. However, no FIR had been filed against her at the time. Acting on government instructions, an FIR has now been registered at Ajimnagar police station for allegedly concealing facts to secure employment.
