Ranchi: In a major breakthrough, the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has uncovered an international arms trafficking network involving notorious gangster Mayank Singh, the No. 2 operative of slain gangster Aman Sahu’s gang. The ATS charge sheet reveals that the gang procured 13 Glock pistols from Pakistan via drones, exposing a cross-border criminal nexus extending from Pakistan to Azerbaijan and Europe.
13 Pakistan-Made Glock Pistols Smuggled via Drones
Investigations confirmed that the Aman Sahu gang sourced a consignment of 13 Glock pistols from Pakistan. Six pistols have been recovered so far from Ranchi, Latehar, Palamu, and other districts, while seven weapons are suspected to still be in the possession of criminals.
Glock pistols are highly sophisticated and prohibited for civilian use. Capable of firing bullets at 1,230 feet per second with an effective range of up to 50 meters, these weapons come with magazines ranging from 6 to 36 rounds.
Hawala Network Used for Payments
ATS findings show that payments for the weapons were routed through a complex hawala network. Money collected in Jharkhand was transferred to Europe-based associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and from there, routed onward through Malaysia and Thailand to arms suppliers in Pakistan.
Mayank Singh’s International Web
Mayank Singh, also known as Sunil Kumar or Sunil Meena, admitted during interrogation that he supplied arms to both the Aman Sahu and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs. He also confessed to orchestrating firing on an ATS DSP, later boasting about the attack on social media with the message:
“Our stature is above the police.”
The gangster had expanded his operations internationally while hiding abroad. Acting on a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol, he was arrested in Azerbaijan in October 2024 and extradited to India.
Arms Trafficking Route: Pakistan → Punjab → Jharkhand
The ATS discovered that traffickers in Punjab played a key role in receiving the weapons smuggled from Pakistan and transporting them by road to Jharkhand. The arms were intended for contract killings, extortion operations, and targeted attacks across the state.
Coal Trader Attack Linked to Same Pistols
The ATS confirmed that the firing on Ranchi-based coal trader Vipin Mishra was carried out using pistols from this very consignment. Two of the weapons used in the attack have been recovered.
Charge Sheet Filed
The ATS has now filed a detailed charge sheet against Mayank Singh, revealing his deep involvement in international arms trade, drone-based weapon delivery, hawala finances, and multiple criminal attacks in Jharkhand.
Authorities are continuing efforts to trace the remaining pistols and identify other members of the transnational supply chain.
