Pakistani Couple Caught Crossing into India via Kutch; BSF Questions Them

Ahmedabad/Kutch: In a dramatic turn along the India-Pakistan border, a Pakistani couple was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) after crossing into India in Gujarat’s Kutch district. This marks the second such case in just a few weeks, following a similar incident in October.

The Couple and Their Background
The young couple, both Hindus from the Sindh province of Pakistan, were caught near Pillar No. 1016 in Rapar Taluka, close to the India-Pakistan frontline. According to BSF reports, the man identified himself as Popat Naththu, 24, and the woman as Gauri (also known as Gulab Mungario), 20. Both hail from the Mithi region of Sindh. Following preliminary questioning, the couple has been handed over to Balasar Police for further legal proceedings.

Rising Concerns Along the Border
This incident follows a similar case on 8 October 2025, when another Pakistani couple, Toto and Meena, was caught near Ratanpar village in Rapar Taluka. Though the earlier couple initially claimed to be minors, subsequent investigations confirmed they were adults.

Security agencies along the Gujarat border have been particularly vigilant since the Pahalgam terrorist attack and Operation Sindoor, making such crossings risky. The latest apprehension highlights the ongoing challenges in monitoring cross-border movements, even for couples driven by personal reasons.

India-Pakistan Love Stories at the Border
While Bollywood films like Refugee romanticized cross-border love stories, real-life attempts now face severe security scrutiny. The BSF has stated that all individuals crossing the border illegally, regardless of motive, will face questioning and legal action to maintain security and border integrity.
