Madhya Pradesh is witnessing a surge in bold burglaries, with even law enforcement officials’ residences coming under attack. In a shocking development, thieves struck the homes of a judicial magistrate in Anuppur and a deputy collector in Bhopal, stealing valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
Theft at Judicial Magistrate’s Residence in Anuppur
In Anuppur district, Judicial Magistrate Vinod Kumar Verma was away in Delhi for training when burglars broke into his home. The thieves stole gold and silver jewelry worth approximately ₹1.5 lakh along with cash of around ₹70,000.
The incident occurred just a few steps away from the Kotwali police station, raising serious concerns about local security. Upon discovering the broken lock, a household staff member immediately informed the magistrate and the police.
Police Response:
Kotwali Station Officer Arvind Jain promptly arrived at the scene with his team to investigate. CCTV footage from nearby cameras is being examined to identify the culprits.
Theft at Deputy Collector’s Residence in Bhopal
In the state capital, burglars targeted the home of Deputy Collector Alka Singh in the upscale Char Imli area, stealing all gold and silver jewelry and watches from the residence. The theft came to light when the Deputy Collector returned from Kerala after accompanying her husband for medical treatment.
These incidents underscore growing concerns over security, as even the homes of government officials are no longer immune to criminal activity. Police continue to investigate both cases with heightened vigilance.
