New Delhi, Feb 4: More than 800 people were reported missing in Delhi during the first 15 days of January 2026, with women and girls accounting for over two-thirds of the cases, according to official Delhi Police data.
Between January 1 and 15, a total of 807 people went missing — an average of 54 per day. Of these, 509 were women and girls, while 298 were men. Police records show that 191 of the missing persons were minors and 616 were adults.
The data indicates that around 572 people remain untraced, while police have managed to locate 235 individuals so far. On average, 13 children were reported missing each day during the period. Of the 191 missing minors, 146 were girls.
Among the missing minors, 169 were teenagers, including 138 girls and 31 boys. Police have traced 29 girls and 19 boys, but nearly 71 percent of the teenagers remain unaccounted for. In the 8–12 age group, 13 children were reported missing — eight boys and five girls — of whom only three boys have been found.
In the under-eight age category, nine children were reported missing. Three boys have been traced, while six children remain untraced.
Adults make up the largest share of missing persons. In the first half of January, 616 adults were reported missing, including 363 women and 253 men. Police have located 90 men and 91 women, but 435 adults are still missing.
The figures add to an already worrying trend from 2025, when 24,508 people were reported missing in the capital. More than 60 percent of those cases involved women (14,870), while 9,638 involved men. Police traced 15,421 people last year, but 9,087 cases remain unresolved.
