Patna, Bihar: More than 12,000 mathematics and science teachers from classes 6 to 8 across Bihar successfully completed a five-day residential training program organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Bihar. Held in three phases between 17 November and 5 December, the program aimed to strengthen experiential and skill-based education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Learning the CBSE Way
The capacity-building program focused on developing Project-Based Learning (PBL) methodologies, encouraging experiential and inquiry-based classroom practices. Teachers were trained to design PBL-based lesson plans and were shown how this approach can address learning gaps identified by assessment bodies like PARAKH.
Comprehensive Curriculum
The training sessions also included modules on gender sensitivity, ICT integration, and STEM education, broadening the teachers’ overall educational perspective. Insights from Mantra Social Services, which collaborated in developing the modules and training process, enhanced the program’s effectiveness.
Officials noted that the sessions were well-structured, incorporating practical activities and active participation through group and collaborative exercises. Such extensive training ensures that teachers can implement meaningful, enjoyable, and inquiry-based teaching, expected to significantly improve students’ learning experiences, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills.
