Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has completed one year since its implementation, emerging as a successful example of technological excellence in governance. All UCC services are now available not only in English but also in all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Additionally, applicants can now use AI-based assistance to understand the entire UCC process and complete their registration independently.
Before implementing the UCC, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had instructed officials to make the registration process as simple as possible and the website fully user-friendly, enabling citizens to apply without external help.
In line with CM Dhami’s directives, the IT Department of Uttarakhand (ITDA) developed the official UCC website in English and 22 scheduled languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Sindhi, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Santhali, and Manipuri.
Through this multilingual system, applicants can access information on UCC rules, procedures, and required documents in their preferred language, and also submit applications in the same language. The AI-based assistance system provides real-time guidance, making the registration process even easier.
CM Dhami stated, “Our government has been working from day one on the principle of ‘Simplification for Solutions.’ During the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, we ensured that citizens face no difficulties. Today, UCC has become a successful model of technological excellence. This is why there has not been a single complaint regarding the UCC process in the past year.”
