In a chilling case of obsession and jealousy, a married man brutally murdered his own friend in Kota after suspecting him of talking to a woman he was obsessed with. The accused slit the victim’s throat and dumped the body in bushes along National Highway-27. Kota police cracked the case within seven hours and arrested the accused.
The deceased has been identified as Karan Singh, a resident of the Awali Rojdi area. His body was found in a pit along the service lane near NH-27 under the RK Puram police station area.
Missing Complaint Led Police to the Crime Scene
According to police, Karan Singh left home around 10 am on December 19 but never reached his workplace. Concerned over his disappearance, his wife Malti lodged a missing person complaint at RK Puram police station.
During the search, police found Karan’s motorcycle abandoned on his usual route, raising suspicion. Later the same afternoon, locals informed police about a body lying in a pit near the highway service road.
“Initial investigation suggested that the body was dumped after murder,” said Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam.
Weapon Recovered, Evidence Collected
Police teams reached the spot and recovered bloodstains and the knife used in the crime. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team collected fingerprints and other crucial evidence. Call detail records (CDRs) of the victim and CCTV footage from nearby areas were also examined, which helped police zero in on the accused.
Friend Turned Killer Confesses
During interrogation, the accused Dilbhar Gurjar confessed to the crime. He revealed that he was in one-sided love with a woman, and suspected that Karan Singh was also in contact with her. This had led to an argument between the two friends four days prior to the murder.
Driven by anger and jealousy, Dilbhar allegedly planned the murder and called Karan to a secluded spot near the highway, where he slit his throat with a knife, killing him on the spot. He then dumped the body in nearby bushes to evade detection.
Accused Sent to Jail
Police arrested Dilbhar Gurjar and produced him before the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody. Officials stated that the swift resolution of the case within seven hours reflects effective policing and strong investigative coordination.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the city and once again highlights how unchecked obsession and jealousy can lead to brutal crimes.
