Ghaziabad, Feb 12, 2026: Sombeer alias ‘Mota’, a gangster linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi and Kala Jathedi gangs, wanted in 26 criminal cases including murder across Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan, has been deported from the United States and arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport by the Haryana Special Task Force (STF).
According to officials, Sombeer had fled India via Mumbai Airport to Bangkok on January 3, 2024. On May 31, 2024, the Rohtak Police declared him absconding. Investigations revealed that he had obtained a passport using a fake address in a flat in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. Residents and RWA officials confirmed that no person named Sombeer had ever lived there. Earlier, 22 passports had been fraudulently issued using fake addresses in the Bhojpur area of Modinagar, prompting action against 11 police personnel, including the station officer.
Sources said Sombeer had tried to enter the US via the Arizona border from Spain, where he was caught. He then spent 17 months in a US detention center before being deported following Indian government and agency procedures.
Haryana STF SP Wasim Akram stated that Sombeer would be presented in court and remanded, after which he will be handed over to the police of the concerned states for further action.
Of the 26 cases registered against him, 10 are for murder. Sombeer had been released on bail from jail in 2022 but went underground soon after. He is the real brother of the notorious gangster Anil Chhippi, who is currently imprisoned in Delhi’s Mandoli Jail.
In a related development, a clerk from the Delhi Passport Office has been arrested for issuing passports using fake addresses in Bhojpur. ADC Crime Piyush Singh confirmed that the accused, Pushpendra, admitted during interrogation that he acted under the instructions of Vivek Gandhi to carry out illegal activities.
