Yasin Ahmed, infamously known as ‘Machli’—a notorious drug trafficker accused of sexual exploitation of minors and violent attacks on police—has once again landed in controversy. Currently lodged in jail for multiple serious offences, Yasin has been staying at Bhopal’s Hamidia Government Hospital since December 24, allegedly under the guise of medical treatment, raising serious questions over misuse of the system.
While jail authorities have categorically declared him medically fit, the hospital administration has refused to discharge him, citing an unspecified “serious illness.” This contradiction has triggered sharp criticism and suspicion of preferential treatment being extended to a hardened criminal.
Criminal With a History of Power and Violence
Yasin Ahmed is no ordinary offender. His arrest itself resembled a cinematic chase—when the Crime Branch surrounded him in the TT Nagar area, he allegedly attempted to mow down three police vehicles using his Scorpio SUV. His car reportedly carried stickers marked “Vidhan Sabha” and “Press,” allegedly to misuse political and institutional influence to shield his drug operations.
Minor Ailment, Major Shelter
According to Jail Superintendent Rakesh Bhangre, Yasin was suffering only from a mild urinary infection, for which treatment had already been completed inside the jail. However, his family approached the court seeking permission for outside treatment. Acting on court orders, he was shifted to Hamidia Hospital—where he was immediately admitted and has since remained under what sources describe as “VIP-style care.”
The jail administration has now formally written to the hospital’s medical board, seeking clarity on the nature of the alleged serious illness justifying prolonged hospitalization. No official response has been received so far.
Mastermind Behind Youth Drug Network
Investigations have earlier revealed that Yasin operated an extensive drug network spanning elite clubs and gyms across the city. Under the guise of fitness culture, his gang allegedly supplied MD (Mephedrone) to young users. Shockingly, reports also suggest that young women were lured with free drugs and later exploited. Despite being identified as the kingpin of this dangerous nexus, Yasin now appears to be comfortably challenging the system from a hospital bed.
The situation has sparked outrage and raised a critical question:
Is Yasin ‘Machli’ genuinely unwell, or is his influence once again helping him escape the rigours of jail under the cover of medical treatment?
As the controversy deepens, all eyes are now on the hospital administration and the medical board’s response, amid growing demands for transparency and accountability.
