Notice Served to Lord Shiva! JDA Action Sparks Controversy in Jaipur

Jaipur, Rajasthan: In a startling development from Jaipur, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has directly issued an encroachment notice in the name of Lord Shiva. The notice, served to a temple in the Vaishali Nagar area, demands a response within seven days, triggering outrage among locals and devotees.

The Notice and Its Cause
The notice pertains to a proposal to widen the road in Vaishali Nagar. According to the JDA, the temple premises of Lord Shiva were found to encroach up to 1.59 meters within the road boundary, based on a PT survey report from Deputy Commissioner, Zone-7. The notice references a court order and instructs the temple to respond within seven days, failing which further action will be taken.

Public Outrage and Concerns
The move has provoked strong public criticism. Locals argue that any official notice should have been addressed to a person, committee, or temple trust, rather than the deity itself. Many called the action insensitive and disrespectful to religious sentiments.

JDA’s Broader Road-Widening Efforts
This is part of a wider road expansion project along Gandhi Path, where, on 21 November, the JDA issued notices to 70 shopkeepers and property owners to facilitate widening the road to 100 feet.

Next Steps
The temple authorities now have seven days to respond to the notice, or the JDA will proceed with enforcement measures. Meanwhile, public criticism continues to grow, with many demanding an apology from the Jaipur Development Authority for the controversial step.
