Noida Tragedy: One Dead, Several Feared Trapped as Three-Storey Building Collapses in Nagla Hukum Singh

Greater Noida, Nov 20, 2025: A major accident struck Nagla Hukum Singh village in Greater Noida on Wednesday when a three-storey under-construction house collapsed while shutters were being removed, killing one labourer and trapping several others under the debris.

According to officials, more than 16 labourers and masons were working on the third floor around 11 a.m. when the entire structure suddenly crumbled. Rescue teams immediately rushed to the spot. SDM Abhay Singh, ADCP Sudhir Kumar, ACP Sarthak Sengar, police teams from multiple stations, and the fire brigade initiated the search and rescue operation.

Eleven workers were pulled out alive and admitted to the hospital. After nearly three hours, the NDRF team also arrived and took charge of the operation. During the rescue efforts, the body of a 25-year-old labourer, Zeeshan from Jewar, was recovered. Authorities fear that at least six more people may still be buried beneath the rubble.

Local MLA Dhirendra Singh reached the site, reviewed the situation, and met the victim’s family to offer condolences.

Illegal Construction and Use of Substandard Material Suspected

The collapsed building was reportedly being constructed in violation of restrictions. The area falls under the second phase of the upcoming Jewar Airport project, and construction activities are prohibited within the notified zone. Despite an FIR filed earlier, residents were allegedly expanding their houses to claim higher compensation from the government.

Officials revealed that the house belonged to Mahaveer Singh, who, along with his family members and others in the village, continued construction despite a restraining order. A case had been registered on October 23 against Mahaveer, his wife Rajbala, his son Gaurav, and 90 others for violating the construction ban. There are also allegations that poor-quality materials were used in the structure, contributing to the collapse.
