Noida Security Manager Arrested: Fugitive Accused of Journalist and Mother’s Murder in Punjab

Noida, Uttar Pradesh: A shocking revelation came to light in Noida as Gaurav Kumar, a fugitive accused in the 2022 murder of senior journalist KG Singh and his mother Gurcharan Kaur in Mohali, Punjab, was found working as a security manager in Sector-36 without proper police verification.

Tushar Sharma reports: Gaurav Kumar had been employed by the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) in Sector-36 since May 2024, managing security personnel and overseeing the premises. During this period, he allegedly used his authority to intimidate residents and even assaulted several people. The Punjab Police arrived in Noida on November 6 to arrest him, revealing his fugitive status. Residents have expressed shock and raised serious concerns about the RWA’s negligence in hiring him without proper background verification.

Lapses in Verification and Employment

Rajesh Pandey, owner of the Pandey Security Agency, said that Gaurav was initially employed through the agency for RWA security duties. When asked for documents to conduct a proper background check, the RWA did not provide them. Eventually, the RWA ended the agency contract and appointed Gaurav directly as manager.

Sector-36 residents reported that Gaurav frequently misbehaved and assaulted people, but despite complaints, no action was taken against him. “If the police had not intervened, he could have caused further harm,” said resident Pankaj Malik.

Criminal Background

Gaurav Kumar, a resident of Bulandshahr, had first been arrested in 2017 for the double murder case. He was released on bail during the COVID-19 pandemic but absconded and was declared a fugitive in 2022. Despite his criminal record, he continued to manage security in Noida, even being promoted to manager of the RWA.

RWA Under Scrutiny

RWA officials claimed they were unaware of his criminal past and emphasized that police verification is mandatory for all personnel. Residents, however, criticized the RWA for failing to verify his background and questioned how a known fugitive could be entrusted with the community’s security.

The incident has raised serious questions about hiring protocols and public safety in residential societies. Authorities have now assured strict action and thorough investigation into the matter.
