
Noida Police arrested two notorious criminals involved in a daylight carjacking of a project manager after a dramatic encounter late Monday evening. The accused were shot in the legs during retaliatory police firing after they opened fire on the police team.
The operation was carried out jointly by Kasna Police Station personnel and the SWAT team. Police recovered the looted car, illegal firearms, and live cartridges from the accused.
Brutal Daylight Robbery
According to police officials, the incident took place on December 23 in the Kasna police station area. The victim, Naveen Kumar, a project manager working with a builder, was heading towards Chirsi village around noon when three criminals on a motorcycle intercepted his car under the pretext of asking for directions.
The assailants suddenly attacked Naveen Kumar, striking him on the head with the butt of a country-made pistol, leaving him injured. They then fled the spot with his car. The victim immediately reported the incident to the police, following which a case was registered and multiple teams were formed to trace the culprits.
Criminals Kept Changing Locations
Despite continuous raids, the accused managed to evade arrest by frequently changing their locations. On Monday evening, police received specific intelligence that the suspects were moving around the Omicron Sector area in Greater Noida.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, Kasna Police and the SWAT team cordoned off the area and attempted to apprehend the suspects.
Encounter and Arrest
Police officials said that upon being surrounded, the criminals opened fire at the police team. In retaliatory action, police fired back, resulting in gunshot injuries to the legs of both accused, forcing them to surrender.
The injured suspects were taken into custody and rushed to the hospital for treatment. Police recovered the stolen car, two country-made pistols, and live ammunition from their possession.
Accused Identified
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Kumar identified the arrested criminals as Amit alias Muttu Kasai, a resident of Sikandrabad, and Shailendra, a resident of Hathras. Police are now investigating their criminal history and the possible involvement of a third accomplice.
The swift police action has been widely appreciated, with officials stating that such operations are essential to curb violent street crimes and organized robberies in the region.
