Noida Builder Under Police Scanner After Open Excavation Causes Hazard; Two Officials Booked

Noida, UP: Following the death of an engineer in a basement accident earlier, authorities in Noida have taken strict action against a builder for leaving a deep excavation near a public road open for months. Two officials of the builder company have been booked for negligence that poses serious safety and environmental risks.

The incident came to light in Sector-150, where engineer Yuvraj Mehta had tragically drowned in a basement, prompting heightened alert from police and administration. Recently, in the Rabupura police jurisdiction, a deep pit dug for basement construction by the ‘Star City’ project remained uncovered for an extended period, raising concerns over public safety.

According to Rabupura Station In-Charge Shyam Babu Shukla, Sub-Inspector Ashish Yadav filed a report on Thursday night. The pit, located near Sector-28D and public roads, was dug using heavy machinery and has accumulated rainwater mixed with garbage over several months. This has led to severe water pollution and foul odors, contributing to local air pollution.

No safety barriers, warning signs, or other protective measures were in place around the excavation, creating a direct risk to human life. Police investigations revealed that the negligence was on the part of Pushkar, General Manager of Star City, and Preetam Singh, Project Head. Both had been warned multiple times earlier, but the situation remained uncorrected.

A case has been registered against the two officials, who are currently being traced. Police continue to investigate the matter thoroughly, citing both environmental hazards and public safety concerns.
