Noida: Builder Abhay Singh Arrested in Engineer Yuvraj Mehta’s Death Case

Noida, Uttar Pradesh: In a major development in the tragic death of 27-year-old engineer Yuvraj Mehta, police have arrested builder Abhay Singh, owner of MZ Whistown. The FIR also names two real estate companies, MZ Whistown and Lotus Green, as accused in the case. The action was taken by the Knowledge Thana Park police.

The incident occurred in Sector 150, Greater Noida, when a car carrying Yuvraj Mehta fell into a pit over 20 feet deep filled with water at a construction site. The engineer succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, the Uttar Pradesh government removed IAS officer Lokesh M. from his post as Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority and placed him on waiting.

Protests and Allegations
Yuvraj Mehta’s family and local residents have accused the Noida Authority and real estate developers of negligence, claiming this directly led to the engineer’s death. They also conducted a protest march in response to the tragedy.

SIT Investigation Ordered
After Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took notice of the incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, led by ADG Zone Meerut. The team includes the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department. The SIT has been instructed to complete its investigation within five days and submit a report to the Chief Minister.

Government sources stated that the investigation will examine which department was responsible for road and site supervision, why corrective measures were not taken despite awareness of waterlogging and pits, and which officials’ negligence contributed to this fatal accident.
