No Safe Haven for Land Mafia in Bihar: Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha’s New Orders Shake Up Officials

Bhagalpur, Bihar: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue & Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has issued a firm warning to land mafias and intermediaries operating in the state, making it clear that any irregularities in public land matters will no longer be tolerated.

Speaking at the “Land Reform Public Welfare Dialogue” held at Bhagalpur Town Hall, Sinha outlined a surgical crackdown against illegal land dealings. He directed all district magistrates to coordinate with their respective police superintendents and submit detailed lists of active land mafias in their districts to the state headquarters immediately. “The government will take decisive action against the listed elements,” he declared.

Enhanced Powers for Local Officers
Deputy CM Sinha has also empowered all circle officers and revenue staff with the authority to file criminal cases directly against those obstructing government processes using forged documents. “Officials must use this authority to ensure that mafia elements who harass the public are brought behind bars,” he instructed.

CSC Centres to Facilitate Public Services
Acknowledging technical difficulties faced by citizens in submitting online applications, Sinha announced the opening of Common Service Centres (CSCs) in every circle office. Trained Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) will assist citizens in filling applications for a nominal fee and provide proper guidance. “All departmental services have been digitized to ensure transparency,” he said, adding that the initiative began with the Patna ‘Jan Kalyan Dialogue’ on December 12.

A Strong Warning to Officers
In a recent workshop at Gyan Bhawan, Patna, all 38 district Additional Collectors, Land Reform Deputy Collectors, and circle officers were instructed that their top priority must be resolving public grievances. Deputy CM Sinha emphasized that any failure to serve citizens effectively will not be tolerated.

With these bold steps, Bihar’s administration has sent a clear signal: the days of unchecked land mafia operations in the state are over.
