No Leader or Official Visits Pulwama Martyr’s Home on Martyrdom Day, CRPF Personnel Pay Tribute in Jabalpur Village

Jabalpur: On the martyrdom anniversary of Pulwama hero Ashwin Kachhi, his family in Khudawal village of Jabalpur expressed deep disappointment as no political leader or administrative official visited their home to pay respects. While promises were once made in the name of the fallen soldier, the family alleged that those assurances have remained unfulfilled over the years.

On the occasion, the family organised a Kanya Bhoj (community meal) in memory of the martyr. However, they said the absence of elected representatives and officials was painful and reflected a lack of commitment towards the family of the braveheart.

Only CRPF Personnel Reached to Pay Tribute

According to the family, only CRPF officers and jawans visited the village and offered floral tributes at the memorial, standing with the family in remembrance of their sacrifice.

Family Built Statue with Personal Funds

Ashwin Kachhi’s brother Sumant Kumar Kachhi stated that he spent nearly Rs 6 lakh from his own pocket to install a statue of his brother in the village ground. He recalled that during the statue unveiling ceremony, several leaders and officials had attended and promised to establish a school in the martyr’s name and develop the statue site into a park.

However, he alleged that those promises were never implemented.

“They came when emotions were high, but as time passed, everyone forgot his sacrifice and their commitments,” Sumant said.

Leaders Visited During Funeral, Later Disappeared

The family recalled that after the Pulwama terror attack, several major leaders from different political parties had visited during the funeral and expressed grief publicly. But in the years that followed, they stopped visiting and the assurances made to the family were gradually ignored.

Martyr of Pulwama Attack

Ashwin Kachhi was among the 40 CRPF personnel who were killed in the deadly suicide bombing in Pulwama on February 14, 2019. At the time of the attack, Ashwin’s marriage had reportedly been fixed, and his family was preparing for his wedding.

On his martyrdom day, the family, villagers, and CRPF personnel paid homage at the statue, remembering his sacrifice with pride and sorrow.
