Sitamarhi: In a rare and unusual wedding that has now become the talk of the town, a young couple in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district got married without any traditional arrangements—no band, no music, no priest, and no chanting of mantras. The marriage was completed within minutes, with only the ritual of applying sindoor (vermilion), making it one of the most unique weddings witnessed in the region.
The video of the wedding has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and sparking discussions across Bihar.
Love Story Ends in Sudden Wedding
The incident took place in Sahargama village under the Parihar police station area of Sitamarhi district. According to local sources, the couple had been in a relationship for nearly one to one-and-a-half years, but due to fear of society, family pressure, and public shame, they continued meeting secretly.
However, their secret relationship came to an abrupt end when the young man visited the girl’s house on Wednesday evening and was caught by her family members.
Soon, villagers gathered at the spot, and the matter escalated into a community discussion.
Marriage Conducted in Presence of Villagers
Following the incident, the villagers decided to settle the matter by arranging the couple’s marriage the very next day. On Thursday, the wedding took place at the girl’s house itself.
Interestingly, the groom’s family members were not present during the ceremony, while the bride’s parents were present throughout.
The entire wedding was completed in a simple and quick manner.
Five Rounds of Sindoor Sealed the Marriage
Witnesses said the groom applied sindoor to the bride’s hair parting five times, and villagers present at the scene welcomed the couple with applause and encouragement.
After the marriage, the couple sought blessings from the bride’s parents, who expressed happiness over the decision.
Couple Claims Marriage Was Voluntary
A local youth recorded the entire incident on video and also questioned the couple during the ceremony. Both the boy and the girl clearly stated that they were marrying by their own choice and were not under any pressure.
The boy assured that he would never trouble the girl and would take full responsibility as her husband.
Inter-Caste Marriage Adds to Discussion
The groom has been identified as Manish Kumar, while the bride is Ganga Kumari. Sources said both belong to the Hindu community but come from different castes, making the marriage even more significant in the rural social setting.
Viral Video Sparks Public Debate
The incident has triggered mixed reactions on social media. While many have praised the couple for choosing love over fear and social barriers, others have questioned the absence of legal and formal procedures.
However, the villagers involved claimed that the marriage was performed with the consent of both individuals, and their intention was to avoid further conflict.
A Wedding Unlike Any Other
With no grand rituals, no traditional celebrations, and no formal ceremonies, this sindoor-based wedding in Sitamarhi stands out as a striking example of how village communities sometimes handle relationships in their own way—blending tradition, social pressure, and local decision-making.
The story continues to remain a major topic of discussion across the district.
