Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar arrived in Vaishali district on Saturday as part of his ongoing ‘Samriddhi Yatra’, a state-wide outreach programme focused on development, welfare, and environmental sustainability. The Chief Minister’s nearly three-hour visit is being seen as a significant step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure and promoting green initiatives in the region.
Spot Inspection of Mahua Medical College
The highlight of the visit is the spot inspection of the newly constructed Government Medical College at Chhatwara, Mahua, built at a cost of ₹463 crore. Spread across 22 acres, the medical college’s foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister in 2021.
During the visit, Nitish Kumar will inspect the academic block, OPD facilities, and residential buildings, and review the readiness of the institution. The medical college is expected to play a crucial role in improving healthcare access in Vaishali and surrounding districts.
In addition, the Chief Minister is likely to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 128 development projects in the district. These include the foundation laying of 25 schemes worth ₹54 crore and the inauguration of 103 completed projects costing ₹98 crore, aimed at strengthening local infrastructure.
‘Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali’ Initiatives and Livelihood Boost
As part of the government’s flagship Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali (Water-Life-Greenery) mission, the Chief Minister will inspect a revived pond at Panapur Bateshwar Nath, which has been restored under the scheme. The pond’s management will be handed over to ‘Jeevika Didis’, promoting community participation and generating local employment.
Nitish Kumar will also inaugurate a solar-powered motor pump and a new rural library, initiatives expected to support sustainable agriculture and enhance educational opportunities in the area.
Visit to Bateshwar Nath Dham and Public Meeting
Keeping in view the district’s religious and cultural significance, the Chief Minister will offer prayers at the Baba Bateshwar Nath Dham, a state-recognised tourist destination. Following the visit, he will hold a high-level review meeting with district officials to assess the progress of ongoing development works.
The tour will conclude with a large public gathering, where the Chief Minister will interact with citizens and outline the government’s achievements and future development roadmap.
Tight Security Arrangements in Place
Ahead of the visit, the administration has made elaborate security arrangements, including the construction of two special helipads in Mahua, to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
Officials described the visit as a reflection of the government’s commitment to inclusive development, healthcare expansion, and environmental conservation in Bihar.
