Nitish Govt Announces Defence Corridor, Explosives Units and 1 Crore Jobs Roadmap

Patna:
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar government has unveiled an ambitious industrial and technological blueprint aimed at transforming the state into eastern India’s newest defence, manufacturing, and innovation hub.

At the heart of this plan is a bold target:

Providing employment to 1 crore youth over the next five years (2025–30).

The roadmap includes the establishment of a Defence Industrial Corridor, semiconductor manufacturing parks, Global Capability Centres, Mega Tech City, and a FinTech City, paving the way for large-scale industrialisation, self-reliance in defence, and massive job creation.

Explosive Manufacturing Units to Be Set Up in Bihar

The defence corridor will include state-of-the-art explosive production facilities, manufacturing ammunition and materials used in military operations along the borders with Pakistan, China, and other sensitive frontier regions.
These units are expected to significantly boost India’s self-reliance in defence supplies.

Special Semiconductor Park for Defence Electronics

To strengthen local employment and defence manufacturing, every district will see the development of defence-related factories, MSME parks, and industrial clusters.

A dedicated semiconductor park will be created for manufacturing chips and electronic components required for defence equipment.

Alongside, Global Capability Centres, a Mega Tech City (for IT and innovation), and a FinTech City will promote both defence and technology-driven industries.

Phase-1: Major Defence Plants Across 5–8 Districts

The defence corridor will begin with major installations in selected districts before being expanded to all 38 districts of Bihar.

Making Bihar a Global Workplace

Nitish Kumar said the new government has begun work at high speed to attract industries and expand employment opportunities.
The vision is to build a new-age, technology-driven economy in Bihar and turn the state into a ‘Global Workplace’.

Leading entrepreneurs, economists, and domain experts connected to Bihar will help design policies and industrial strategies under this framework.

Bihar Artificial Intelligence Mission to Be Launched

Highlighting Bihar’s young demographic strength, the Chief Minister said:

  • Bihar can become India’s fastest-growing state if its youth power is harnessed effectively.
  • The government will establish new sugar mills, revive closed mills, and modernize major urban centres.
  • A Bihar Artificial Intelligence Mission will be set up to integrate advanced technologies into governance, industry, and public services.

The mission aims to position Bihar as a major technology hub in eastern India, supported by innovation, automation, and AI-driven development.
