Nigerian Man Arrested at Raipur Airport with Cocaine Worth ₹25 Lakh

Raipur, Jan 28, 2026: In a major operation at Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested a Nigerian national carrying a substantial quantity of cocaine. The seized drugs, weighing 270 grams, are estimated to be worth around ₹25 lakh.

The suspect was traveling on an Indigo flight from Delhi to Raipur when the DRI team, acting on prior intelligence, intercepted him for a search. During the inspection, the cocaine was recovered from his possession.

Investigation Underway
DRI officials stated that the arrested individual is being interrogated to determine the source of the cocaine and whether he is linked to an international drug trafficking network or was planning to supply the drugs locally in Raipur. Authorities are also examining his forward and backward connections in the drug supply chain.

Following the seizure, the suspect was immediately taken to the DRI office for detailed questioning. Officials indicated that this case could be connected to a larger international narcotics racket.

This operation comes shortly after another significant crackdown on drugs in Raipur, where police seized narcotics worth several crores of rupees and arrested multiple suspects.
