Special Judge Hussain Ahmad Ansari delivered the verdict, terming it a significant step in dismantling the terror network associated with Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Investigators revealed that the duo had provided illegal pistols and live cartridges to key accused Minhaj Ahmad and Maseeruddin, who were planning a series of blasts across sensitive locations, including Ram Janmabhoomi.
Confession Strengthened the Case
According to Special Public Prosecutor Brijesh Yadav, Mustakeem and Shakeel not only delivered weapons but played a major role in ensuring that the terror operatives received the ammunition required to execute their plans.
During the trial, both accused confessed to their crime and stated that they had no prior criminal history. The court considered this during sentencing and ruled that the period already served in jail would be adjusted against their total sentence. However, failure to pay the fine will result in additional imprisonment.
Independence Day Blast Conspiracy Foiled
The case dates back to 11 July 2021, when the Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested Minhaj and Maseeruddin from Lucknow. Authorities recovered pressure-cooker bombs, live cartridges, and explosive materials from their possession.
Subsequent interrogation revealed a chilling plot to carry out serial blasts on 15 August across multiple major cities in Uttar Pradesh. It was during this investigation that the names of Mustakeem and Shakeel emerged as the critical suppliers of illegal arms.
The sentencing marks another significant step in the ongoing crackdown on terror networks operating in the region.
