New Delhi/Patna:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted major raids across 22 locations in Bihar and Haryana in connection with a case related to terrorist funding and activities. According to reports, the case was initially registered with the NIA Patna branch, focusing on financing terrorism, radicalization, and recruitment by outlawed terrorist organizations, including ISIS.
Scope of the Raids
The case, registered earlier in 2025, falls under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Multiple NIA teams coordinated the raids simultaneously across Bihar and Haryana to gather evidence and apprehend suspects. The operation targets individuals involved in promoting terrorism and conspiring against the state.
Background
The investigation relates to alleged conspiracies designed by banned terrorist organizations. The NIA’s search operation aims to uncover financial trails, communication networks, and recruitment channels.
Earlier Explosive Seizures
In a related development, police in Rajsamand, Rajasthan, had earlier seized a significant quantity of explosives, including detonators and gelatin sticks, from a pickup vehicle. Two individuals were arrested in connection with that seizure, though they failed to provide any documents linking the explosives to a broader plot.
