NIA Brings Dr. Shaheen to Al-Falah University; ₹18 Lakh Cash Seized From Room No. 22

Faridabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday night conducted a major search operation at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, recovering ₹18 lakh in cash from the hostel room of Dr. Shaheen Shahid, a 43-year-old former faculty member and a key accused in the Delhi bomb blast case.

Dr. Shaheen, popularly known among students as “Madam Surgeon”, was arrested for her alleged links to a “white-collar” terror module suspected to be operating within and around the university campus.

Cash Recovered From Room No. 22

According to officials, the NIA team escorted Dr. Shaheen to Room No. 22 of the university hostel—believed to be the location where crucial meetings were held before the Delhi blast on November 10.

During the search, investigators found bundles of currency notes hidden inside a cupboard. The cash was counted on the spot and subsequently seized. The agency suspects that the money was kept for financing terror-related activities linked to the module.

Before the hostel search, Dr. Shaheen was also taken to the university’s administrative block, where she pointed out a locker allegedly used by her.

Probe Into Funding Source Intensifies

NIA officials confirmed that the agency is now tracing the origin of the seized cash and investigating whether it was provided through a network of operatives involved in the module.

Searches have begun to identify individuals who may have facilitated the cash movement, including university staff, students, and external contacts. Investigators have prepared a list of people Dr. Shaheen interacted with frequently in her role within the campus.

The agency is mapping her daily activities across the medical ward, classrooms, and doctor’s cabin, aiming to identify potential collaborators.

Active Since Student Days

Sources reveal that Dr. Shaheen had been expanding her influence since her student years at Al-Falah University. She allegedly used her academic role to build connections inside and outside the institution, enabling her to recruit or collaborate with individuals for the terror module.

Her arrest follows the detention of another Al-Falah doctor, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Ganaie, who was arrested a day earlier for procuring chemicals used in manufacturing explosives.

Massive Explosive Stockpile Exposed

During questioning, Ganaie identified two shops from where he purchased ammonium nitrate, and two additional hideouts near the university where investigators discovered a shocking 2,900 kg of the explosive material.

He had reportedly stored a large portion of the ammonium nitrate in village fields before shifting it to the residence of a local cleric in Fatehpur Tagga.

The NIA believes that more explosive material may still be hidden at undisclosed locations.
