Faridabad: In a major development in the Delhi blast investigation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) brought arrested Al-Falah University doctor Dr. Muzammil Ahmed Ganai from Delhi to Faridabad late at night. The team spent hours recreating the crime scenes, tracing the procurement of explosives, and collecting crucial evidence connected to the deadly attack.
Four-Hour Midnight Operation
The NIA team, accompanied by a 15-vehicle convoy and heavy police presence, took Muzammil to multiple locations across Faridabad and Sohna. Large crowds gathered as officers moved him through the identified spots where he allegedly bought, stored, and processed explosives.
Investigators revealed that Muzammil had been in constant touch with a foreign handler who trained him in bomb-making techniques.
1,600 kg Ammonium Nitrate Purchased
During questioning, Muzammil identified a seed store in Sohna Mandi from where he had purchased 1,600 kg of ammonium nitrate in early 2023 —
- 1,000 kg from one shop
- 600 kg from another
He admitted that this material was later used for preparing explosive devices.
Where NIA Took Muzammil
The NIA escorted him to the following critical locations:
1. Two Rented Rooms Used as Explosive Warehouses
Muzammil had rented two rooms where he stored nearly 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate. The rooms were thoroughly examined by forensic teams.
2. University Campus – Suspected Planning Site
Officers took him to the Al-Falah University campus where he lived and worked. Investigators believe the entire terror conspiracy was planned here along with associates
- Dr. Umar
- Dr. Shaheen Shahid
- Another university doctor
Dr. Umar later executed the car blast near the Red Fort in an i20 vehicle.
3. A Cab Driver’s Room in Dhauj Village
NIA visited another location in Dhauj where Muzammil had kept an electric grinder and a portable furnace — tools suspected to have been used in bomb-making.
Landlords Questioned; Crucial Leads Found
Muzammil was brought to the rooms he rented after paying ₹1,200 per month in advance. His landlord, known locally as Madarsi, told the police that Muzammil never stayed there and only visited occasionally with his bag.
Police and NIA spent hours gathering forensic samples, chemical residues, and documents from the rooms.
Massive Explosive Seizures
Two major seizures were made earlier from locations linked to Muzammil:
• 358 kg Ammonium Nitrate — Seized from Dhauj
Recovered a few days before the blast.
• 2,600 kg Explosives — Seized from Fatehpur Tagga
Found on 9 November, just a day before the Delhi explosion.
The room owner, a local maulvi, was arrested after the recovery.
Coded Diary Entries Under Examination
Earlier seized diaries belonging to Muzammil and Umar contain coded references to planned missions. NIA sources say the agency is now investigating possible links with handlers in Pakistan and Turkey.
By midnight, NIA wrapped up the Faridabad operation and transported Muzammil back to Delhi under tight security.
Faridabad Police on High Alert
