Nepali Woman Arrested at Mumbai Airport for Using Fake Indian Passport to Travel to Oman

Mumbai: A Nepali woman attempting to fly to Oman using a forged Indian passport was arrested at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The arrest was made after immigration officials detected discrepancies during routine checks. A case has been registered against her for fraudulent travel and use of forged documents.

Suspicion at Immigration Counter
According to an officer from Sahar Police Station, the woman identified herself as Kajal and presented an Indian passport mentioning her birthplace as Nohra, Himachal Pradesh. However, her physical appearance raised doubts, as she looked distinctly Nepali. She was immediately referred for detailed interrogation. During questioning, she confessed that she was not Indian but a citizen of Nepal.

Actual Identity Revealed
The woman later disclosed her real name as Kajal Lama, a resident of Parsa district in Nepal. She told police that her parents had migrated to Himachal Pradesh years ago, and she used this background to obtain fraudulent identity documents—including an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and a certificate—using a fake Himachal address.

How She Obtained the Passport
With these forged documents, she managed to secure an Indian passport from the Shimla Passport Office, police said. She was caught last week while attempting to board a flight to Muscat.

Case Registered
Based on the complaint filed by the immigration officer, police booked the woman under charges of misleading passport authorities, forging documents, and attempting illegal travel. Further investigation is underway to trace the network involved in preparing the fake documents.
