The top Maoist leadership, reeling from the deaths of several key leaders including CCM member Yuddhaya, has issued a formal letter requesting a temporary ceasefire. The organization has asked that all combing and military operations be paused until February 15. In return, the Maoists have pledged to suspend PLGA activities and avoid any hostilities during this period.
The letter, released by the Special Zonal Committee covering the three states, also mentions that the organization is undergoing internal restructuring following the loss of senior members. While appealing for a ceasefire, the Naxals warned that any continued government operations could provoke retaliatory action. The dates for memorial events honoring fallen leaders, including Yuddhaya, are also to be announced.
Several senior leaders, including Politburo member Comrade Sonu Dada, along with CCM members Satish Dada and Comrade Chandranna, have supported the ceasefire initiative. They reportedly seek to return to the mainstream but have requested a brief period to organize the surrender process.
The Maoists have further asked for opportunities to meet with elected representatives and journalists to coordinate a collective disarmament and acceptance of government rehabilitation programs.
The state government has set March 31, 2026, as the target date to eliminate Naxal influence entirely. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai stated that with ongoing development in Bastar and increased focus on tourism, Naxalism will be fully eradicated by that date. He added that the region will witness comprehensive development in the coming months, marking a historic step toward peace and prosperity.
