Ghaziabad, February 23, 2026: In a landmark development for regional connectivity, the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat service has officially commenced operations on the much-awaited corridor. The new high-speed transit system was flagged off by Narendra Modi, marking a major milestone in NCR’s transportation infrastructure.
Operated by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the service began public operations at 6:00 PM on Sunday, dramatically reducing travel time between key cities in the National Capital Region.
Travel Time Reduced to Minutes
Passengers can now travel:
- Ghaziabad to Sarai Kale Khan in just 20 minutes
- Ghaziabad to Modipuram (Meerut) in approximately 35 minutes
- Delhi to Meerut (full stretch) in around 55 minutes
The launch eliminates the long-standing issue of traffic congestion on the Delhi–Meerut route, where commuters previously spent up to two hours navigating heavy road traffic.
Stations and Fare Structure
The fare from Ghaziabad to major stations is as follows:
| Destination | Fare (₹) |
| Guladhar | 20 |
| Sahibabad | 30 |
| Duhai | 30 |
| Anand Vihar | 40 |
| Muradnagar | 40 |
| New Ashok Nagar | 60 |
| Modinagar South | 60 |
| Sarai Kale Khan | 80 |
| Modinagar North | 80 |
| Meerut South | 90 |
| Shatabdinagar | 110 |

The pricing makes Namo Bharat not only faster than buses and conventional rail but also significantly more economical than private car travel, where toll charges range between ₹100–₹160 and fuel costs may reach ₹300–₹400 per trip.
Modern Amenities for Comfortable Travel
Passengers can enjoy:

The extension of services from New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan and from Meerut South to Modipuram via Shatabdinagar and Begumpul further strengthens last-mile connectivity.
Additionally, the Meerut Metro service has commenced operations between Meerut South and Modipuram, integrating regional and urban transit systems efficiently.
Positive Public Response
Commuters have expressed enthusiasm over the launch. Regular travelers noted that the new service eliminates the hassle of switching multiple modes of transport and saves valuable time. While some mentioned that fares are slightly higher compared to conventional options, most agreed that the speed, comfort, and convenience justify the cost.
A Game-Changer for NCR Mobility
The Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor is being hailed as a transformative step in regional rapid transit. By combining speed, affordability, and modern facilities, the project is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters and significantly reduce vehicular congestion across the NCR.
With this launch, the NCR takes a decisive step toward smarter, faster, and more sustainable urban mobility.
